Technical Qualifications

Jon Watkins - Founder

Over 15 years of experience in the modeling and simulation industry, with particular interest in computer generated forces (CGF) applications, virtual simulation, terrain reasoning, and terrain databases. Authored, co-authored, or reviewed numerous white papers, conference papers, technical reports, etc. Sample areas of activity in recent years are listed below:

  • Part of winning teams on SE Core A&I and three RDEC-funded research efforts
  • Co-author of the SE Core Concept Paper for database generation
  • Primary author of a detailed study analyzing OneSAF Objective System integration into the Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT)
  • Participated in generation of CGF databases for Lockheed Martin's Virtual Convoy Combat Trainer (VCCT) program
  • Participated in numerous proposals, both with Dignitas Technologies, and with previous employers
  • Developed extensive automated test applications for terrain databases.
  • Participated in development of terrain databases for applications/customers including CCTT, Onesaf Testbed (OTB), Coast Guard, UKCATT, and many more.
  • Providing consulting/design input on the approach for OOS entity level movement control

General experience:

  • Experience with terrain formats and services of OOS, OTB, CCTT, WARSIM/JSIMS, and SIMNET.
  • Extended documentation on OOS' terrain format (OTF)
  • Primary developer of CCTT's entity level movement control algorithms.
  • Coordinated an IPT of industry leaders to analyze current database generation technologies and recommend future approaches.
  • Retrofitted existing database generation systems to use SEDRIS

Shawn Shiflett - Simulation Engineer

Over 7 years of experience in the modeling and simulation industry, with particular interest in virtual simulation, and terrain database generation. Sample areas of activity in recent years are listed below:

  • Terrain database generation for applications/customers including CCTT, UKCATT, VCCT, CACCTUS, USCGA, SE Core DVED, SE Core A&I, OneSAF, and many more.
  • Participated in development of database generation procedures for SE Core DVED.
