Steve Borkman / Selected Staff
Software Engineer
Steve Borkman is currently a software engineer at Dignitas Technologies. Prior to his employment he developed a love for programming and set out to start a career in the world of “practical video games”-simulation training.
Mr. Borkman’s education includes a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in 1999. Since then he has spent the past ten years focusing on his talents and energies in the synthetic natural environment (SNE) domain. He has garnered experience in all aspects of SNE: as part of a database development team (CATT-DB team), as an architect and developer of a terrain database production system (RUGUD), and as an architect and developer of runtime environment capabilities (OneSAF ERC and LTF).
Key Experiences:
- CCTT – As a member of the CCTT PDSS team and also CATT-DB team.
- SEDRIS – Transitioned CCTT compilers to use SEDRIS as their input format.
- OneSAF ERC – Initial developer of the Ultra-High Resolution Building model and runtime services, such as ray-trace line of sight. Was named the ERC Technical Lead for the final few months of my time on ERC.
- RUGUD – Served as co-lead architect of the Rapid Unified Generation of Urban Databases project.
- OneSAF GPU Investigation – Served as the project manager of a project worked in conjunction with the University of North Carolina to optimize OneSAF ERC using GPU technologies.
- LTF – Served as project manager and co-lead architect/developer on the Layered Terrain Format. A new runtime synthetic environment built to meet the needs of live and embedded applications.
